“No, honestly!” she said. “It’ll take me about ten months, because some of the parts are very small and I’ll have trouble finding the right size needles for them, but it can be done.

“In fact,” she said, glancing at her watch, “it should be here in about thirty seconds.”

There was a knock at the door. Everyone stopped laughing when Debbie opened the door and greeted herself. Debbie smiled and gave herself a small thing that appeared to be knit out of wool and wire.

“Thank you!” Debbie said to herself. “But how will you get home?”

“Oh, don’t worry. I used the time machine to start over and knit two.” Debbie pulled a twin to the first thing from her purse and held it up. “Seeya!”

And then Second Debbie was gone.

"You, are becoming Gods. Unraveled DNA, and at the same time you’re cultivating bacteria strong enough to kill every living thing! Do you think you are ready for that much power? You lot? You lot? Cheeky bastards. You’re running around science like kids with guns, creating a new world, while the world you’ve got is stinking, but, hands up, hands up anyone who thinks you’ve got it right. Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Greektown...

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Greektown neighborhood in Southeast Baltimore.

It happened at about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 5100 block of Foster Avenue.Officers said the attacker shot an unidentified man in the back. The victim was taken to Bayview Medical Center, where he later died.Investigators have been unable to identify the victim. The shooting happened across the street from John Ruhrah Elementary and Middle School.

I normally start Cardiff’s morning walk by going up to and then around the school. Yesterday, instead, we went the opposite direction to Bayview and walked around on the hospital grounds. If I’d followed my usual routine I would’ve seen this when it was still a fresh crime scene.
